Remember choose your adventure books? Today get your family together or zoom with some friends and get creative with a choose your own smoothie adventure! Smoothies allow you to get a ton of nutrients and are a fantastic way to help restore your gut! If this is your first time making a smoothie, do less veggies and fruits and addon's so your body can adjust accordingly to all the nutrients you are supplying. Adding too many for your first time can shock the bowels.
Here's the steps:
Choose a base
(start with about 1/2 cup and add more based on consistency).
Water • Organic Grass-fed Milk (Snowville is a good brand) • Nut milk (almond, cashew, coconut) • Coconut Water • Plain dairy Yogurt • Plain dairy or non-dairy Kefir
Dark Leafy Greens (Spinach, Swiss Chard, Kale, Beet Greens) • Beets, cooked without skin • Carrots • Celery • Cucumber • Frozen Broccoli • Pumpkin (yummy with cinnamon and vanilla) • Cooked Sweet Potato
***Celery and Cucumber contain a lot of water, so you may need less base if you use these veggies***
Choose a fat/protein
Avocado • Chia seeds • Coconut Oil or Shredded Coconut • Flax seeds or Oil • Nuts or Nut Butter • Collagen from grass-fed cows • Sunflower Seeds • Protein Powder (be careful of harmful additives. Garden of Life is a good brand)
Choose an extra flavor or added gut nutrition boost
Cacao nibs • Ginger • Turmeric • Other spices (Nutmeg, Cinnamon) • Vanilla or Mint Extracts • Herbs (Mint, Basil, etc) • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
