Magnesium and your body

May 13, 2020

The Powerhouse Mineral: Magnesium

Magnesium (Mg) is one of the most vital minerals in the body and, yet, still remains the most deficientIf you are stressed or in a constant state of overload, your Mg levels are most likely depleted. To support your adrenals and balance your cortisol (both which have a huge impact on wellness) Mg is a must.

Mg has many benefits, and with out it, many areas of your body can [and will] be affected.
First, let's talk about benefits. Mg helps to support your immunity, building a healthy gut flora and to regulate your thyroid. It is also essential for the formation of bones and teeth. Mg aides in the metabolism of Calcium (Ca) and Potassium (K), which, if there is a build-up of these two elements, can create stress in the body. Mg helps improve the insulin response by lowering insulin resistance and  is pivotal for performing numerous chemical reactions in our body essential for good body health.
Now, very low Mg levels will inhibit your pancreas' ability to secrete insulin, in turn, creating blood sugar imbalances. With out this mineral, maintaining a normal heartbeat/rate and our nerve function & transmissions would be next to impossible for the body.

So how do you know if you are experiencing a deficiency?
Some signs are:
  • Muscle cramps/twitches
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fatigue, mental fatigue & Weakness
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Asthma (Magnesium helps regulate Calcium and too little creates a Calcium build-up)
  • Irregular Heartbeat (due to Potassium imbalance)
  • Constipation
  • Insomnia (Mg helps with GABA production which is your body's "natural valium")
  • Numbness/Tingling
You can always take a supplement to help with boosting your MG levels, but ultimately the best way is with food. Several foods that offer high doses of the mineral are:

  • Leafy greens; Pumpkin & Sunflower Seeds; Quinoa; Fish (wild-caught salmon and Mackerel are the highest); Squash; Beans and Lentils; Dates; Molasses; Dark Chocolate; Avocado

Our Magnesium Spray is also a quick and easy way to get that much needed boost when you are feeling down, anxious, or fatigued. Just spray on either your wrists or ankles and rub in. The Magnesium flakes mixed with the carrier oil will deliver the mineral to the areas of your body that are depleted. Added benefit is the Relax Oil Blends provide other aromatherapy properties to your day. Safe for both children and adults, so spritz the stress away:)
