Pet Health & Wellness

The Health and Wellness industry is becoming more popular and advanced. If you have any furry friends in the home be sure to take time to invest in their emotional and physical well-being just as you would your own. Here we will address some different care and wellness strategies for your pets. Be sure to always get approval and recommendations from your vet before starting any wellness regimen.

  • Massage: Yes your animals can reap the benefits of massage as well. Not only is it relaxing, it also helps by improving blood flow and circulation (which is essential esp. for larger animals). Massages will also strengthen the immune system, aids in digestion and removal of toxins (environmental and dietary).
  • BIofeedback/Reiki/Healing Touch: Energy work is just as vital for yourself as it is for your pet. Animals tend to be natural empaths and all the energy that they absorb can lead to physical as well as emotional ailments. Try getting some energy work and healing for your pet and notice the improvements with energy and vitality. Real Wellness does offer Biofeedback for your pets. Try it out:)
  • Chiropractor: Animals also need adjustments to help with relieving joint, muscular and skeletal problems. These adjustments can relieve pain and decrease loss/regression of agility.
  • Acupuncture: This is insertion of small needles into the body where blood vessels and nerves come together at acupuncture points. Acupuncture points all have different meanings. It encourages the body to heal itself by correcting energy imbalances. This can include pain relief, anti-inflammatory properties, improved circulation and a decrease in anxiety.
  • Acupressure: This is Traditional Chinese Medicine that is helpful in treating injuries and anxiety. A trained professional will use acupressure points to re-establish balance of blood flow and other vital substances that will enable the body to heal and restore itself.
  • Sound: Sound has been shown to affect the nervous and cardiovascular system. If your pet struggles with anxiety classical sounds like Bach, Vivaldi or Beethoven can help to decrease agitation and stress. Be sure not to put something too stimulating on if your pet is struggling with anxiety.
  • Aromatherapy: Scent for anyone is highly important for regulating emotions. Certain smells can change the way that your brain functions and can change discomfort levels. When using aromatherapy be sure to research what is toxic and non-toxic. Cats lack a digestive enzyme and is why many of the Essential Oils cannot be used or diffused or used for long periods of time with them.
  • Nutrition: If you are familiar with clean eating, this is just as important for your animals. Additives in their foods lead to different ailments, anxieties and issues with overall energy levels. Be sure to adjust their diet to a cleaner one. Some good brands to look into are: Acana, Honest Kitchen, Organix, Orijen, Newman's Own, Taste of the Wild or Ziwi Peak. If you have time, cook for your pet. Be sure to check out our recipe this week which will highlight a pet recipe. Foods to avoid for animals are onions, chives, shallots, grapes, raisins and avocados. Healthy foods to incorporate are hard-boiled eggs, coconut oil, wild-caught fish and raw bones.
  • Natural Antibiotics: Just as antibiotics are not very good for the human body, the same goes for your pets. Try using Colloidal Silver. It is an antibiotic agent that is very effective in fighting a variety of non-urgent infections.
"Take time to be quiet for a few minutes every day with your pet.
It helps them know you are at peace with them, no matter how crazy life is".
